BayAreaGreeks is a creation by George Stavropoulos (DJ
G-Stav) and Tasso Karoutas (DJ Tasso) in striving to fulfill a vision of unity
amongst the Greek population in the Bay Area. Both DJ’s have been a
driving force in the Greek events/music scene both in and around the San
Francisco Bay Area for 10 years now by producing, along with their partner Tony
Kutulas, monthly and bimonthly Greek Nights which in they both perform at, as
well as bring in the best Greek Bands and artists to perform live. They have
also provided DJ services for every Greek Church in Northern California along
with most major Greek organizations and society’s, and continue to provide
music services for everyone in the Greek community. In addition to the Bay
Area, George and Tasso have DJ'ed in other parts of the country as well
as some parts of Canada and Central America. Aside from just dj’ing,
their main goal and focus is constantly introducing the Greek community to
Greek music that is currently being played on radio stations and in nightclubs
in Greece. They showcase the new music at the events they spin at and
through their CD LIVE MIXES that they produce and distribute at their
events.
Throughout their years
of producing Greek nights and providing music services throughout the Greek
community whether it be from a church function to a private Greek wedding,
G-Stav and Tasso have noticed that most of the time in our Greek community in
the Bay Area, there are several events taking place on the same day as others
and that is why they have come up with Bay Area Greeks.com. They
have created BayAreaGreeks so that every single Greek person, Greek churches,
Greek Organizations and Society’s in Northern California can access the site
and look at what is going on in the Greek Community from Greek nights, to
Church functions and festivals, Greek dinner dances, benefits, etc and plan
their events according to the calendar. Their goal is to try and reduce
and or eliminate as much competition as possible so that the organizations in
the Greek community can create events without the fear of multiple events being
scheduled on that same day in different areas of the bay area – creating a
larger turnout for the event. It also gives the Greeks an idea of what is
happening on certain weekends if they are planning any type of event whether it
is a wedding reception, engagement, birthday party, anniversary party,
etc. They want this site to be a portal for everything “Greek happening in
the bay area” for the younger and older generation. Through their
vision, this site will also be a music portal for Greek music where there will
be monthly updates of their personal Greek mixes and top Greek music charts and
will be posting “live mixes” of the music that they play at Greek Nights.
